Based on the Montessori method, this game provides an opportunity to recognize and understand emotions, facial expressions and everyday actions, and also to gain in independence and imagination. Having an awareness of self and body means understanding our individual physical and emotional states. The box contains 40 ashcards, 24 of which show dierent emotional states, and 16 everyday actions. The cards are all sandpapered to allow children to touch what they see and learn the concepts more eectively. A series of activities for children aged 1-2 are suggested for each group of cards, to be led by parents and educators, as well as structured and unstructured games for older children (age 3-4).

This game develops children’s linguistic abilities and offers a first experience playing with abstract ideas. It’s based on the teachings of Maria Montessori, harnessing the different senses to heighten the cognitive experience and using the three-period method to promote natural, spontaneous learning. The Baby Flashcards are made of shaped card with insets to stimulate the sense of touch. They also stimulate visual perception as the children recognize and remember the pictures. At the same time, the Baby Flashcards are a useful way of teaching additional concepts like the sounds of words.

The contents of this game help children to recognize parts of the body, build a body map and represent the body at ease and in motion. Looking at the pictures and playing with the cut-out shapes, children also become aware of their own bodies which, from birth, have been a means of learning about themselves in the world. With the guidance of a parent (or educator) the contents of the box can be used to organise both teaching activities and also “movement” and psychomotor games in dedicated spaces or in the open air, developing their autonomy and emotional confidence.

A game for learning to read at the age of three. Children touch the emery letters, associate the graphemes with the word and, thanks to the special self-correcting tokens, learn the alphabet and can distinguish longer and shorter words. The material contained in the box is useful for preparing children to effectively read and write. Phonemic consciousness develops using the puzzle pieces of the frosted letters and the sounds are associated with the corresponding graphic symbols, which can be traced with the fingers, involving touch, sight and hearing. In fact, children learn the principles of alphabetic writing in a multisensorial way, as suggested in Maria Montessori´s method.
